4 Steps To Fix Camera Shake

It’s easy to get blurry pictures, even when shooting on a tripod, because of “camera shake”. Camera shake comes from a variety of sources including everything from wind, ocean waves crashing around you, nearby foot steps, to your own hands while pushing the shutter button on your camera.

A video demonstrating the problem and the solution

In the following video I demonstrate what camera shake looks like, how to detect it and how to adjust your in-the-field techniques to prevent it:

Follow these 4 steps to reduce camera shake

These are the tips outlined in the video above:

  1. Use a tripod with a shutter release cable
  2. Use the live-view setting on your camera
  3. Jump to the maximum zoom setting of your live-view screen
  4. Watch the image carefully until the shaking stops and then press the release cable shutter button

P.S. / Reminder: Check your image stabilizer settings too

Don’t forget the advice I discussed in a previous video about Image Stabilization and it’s effect on the sharpness of your images.
